The Boston Bruins have traded Justin Brazeau to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Marat Khustnidinov, Jakub Lauko, and a 2026 sixth-round pick.

With the Bruins not holding a playoff spot, Brazeau was generating plenty of chatter in the rumor mill as a pending unrestricted free agent. Now, he is joining the Wild, where he should provide more secondary scoring and size to their bottom six.

Brazeau, 27, earned an NHL contract with the Bruins last February after spending three years with the Providence Bruins on AHL deals. He made an impact after earning his contract last year, posting five goals and seven points in 19 games. He then followed that up this season by recording 10 goals, 20 points, and 89 hits in 59 games.

Khusnutdinov is a 2020 second-round pick who is just getting his NHL career. The 22-year-old center appeared in his first 16 NHL games last season with the Wild, recording one goal and four points. In 57 NHL games this season, he has two goals and seven points.

While Khusnutdinov has yet to break out at the NHL level, the young forward has the potential to improve as he continues to get used to the sport's most competitive league.

Lauko, on the other hand, is heading back to Boston after being traded by the Original Six club this past off-season. In 38 games this season with the Wild, Lauko had three goals, six points, and 69 hits.

Lauko will now once again be a solid option for the Bruins' bottom six moving forward. In 83 games over two seasons during his first stint with Boston, he had six goals, 17 points, and 220 hits.
