One insider believes the Bruins would go all-in if this Oilers superstar became available.

The Boston Bruins are having a strong 2023-24 season. They are among the top teams in the NHL, and it is quite impressive when noting that they lost several notable players this offseason. Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha, in particular, have worked well as replacements for Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.

While this is the case, there's no question that the Bruins have looked to improve their group down the middle. They were heavily linked to Elias Lindholm right up until the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passed. There is also an expectation that they will pursue him if he hits the free-agent market this offseason. Yet, an even bigger center is creating some chatter as a potential future Bruins target.

In a recent mailbag for the Edmonton Journal, Jim Matheson discussed Leon Draisaitl nearing the end of his contract. When it comes to the Bruins, he made it clear that he believes that the Original Six would "move heaven and Earth" to land Draisaitl if he becomes available at any point.

However, Matheson also noted that he believes the superstar center wants to stay and win with the Oilers and will eventually sign an extension with Edmonton because of it.

There's no question that Draisaitl is precisely the kind of superstar center that the Bruins could use as their 1C, so it's easy to believe that they would try to land him if he was eventfully available for trade or in free agency. Yet, given his importance to the Oilers and how spectacular of a player he is, it would be shocking to see him leave or be traded by Edmonton. They are in their Stanley Cup window, and Connor McDavid is in his prime.

Nevertheless, the Draisaitl extension talks will be fun to pay attention to once we get to the summer.
