This Bruins prospect is on a real run right now.
Georgii Merkulov is one of the Boston Bruins' most promising forward prospects. The 24-year-old has had great success in the AHL with the Providence Bruins over the last few seasons, and this campaign has been more of the same. In 35 games this season with the AHL squad, he has 10 goals and 33 points.
Yet, what's more encouraging about Merkulov's play is that he is only getting better as the season rolls on. The skilled forward currently has a five-game point streak with Providence, scoring three goals and posting six points over that span.
Merkulov was already red-hot before his current point streak, too, as he has 20 points over his last 19 games with Providence.
Given how well Merkulov continues to play with Providence, it is fair to argue that he deserves another shot on the NHL roster. The Bruins continue struggling immensely, so it would not hurt to recall Merkulov to see what he can do.
Nevertheless, seeing if Merkulov can continue his hot stretch of play from here will be fascinating.
