The Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack by a 6-2 final score on April 11. With this, they improved to a 38-23-5 record and are third in the Atlantic Division standings.

Two of the Boston Bruins' most promising prospects were significant reasons for Providence's big win, as Matthew Poitras and Dans Locmelis stepped up big time. Poitras scored two goals and recorded two assists, while Locmelis scored his first AHL goal and had three assists.

Poitras is continuing to show the Bruins his offensive upside down at the AHL level with Providence. In 37 games with the AHL squad this season, he now has 16 goals, 37 points, and a plus-2 rating. He was also named the AHL's Third Star of the Night for his big game against Hartford.

As for Locmelis, this was just his third game with Providence since joining them on an amateur tryout for the remainder of the season. He certainly has been looking confident at the AHL level, as he now has five points and a plus-3 rating in Providence. This is after the 2022 fourth-round pick had eight goals and 33 points in 40 games this season with UMass.

Poitras and Locmelis are two prospects who the Bruins are hoping will be important pieces of their roster in the future. Thus, seeing them each put together strong performances like these is undoubtedly encouraging.
