Former Boston Bruins forward Steve Begin announced through a Facebook post that he is declaring bankruptcy.
Begin said on the matter: "The civil engineering company in which I had been proposed to invest large sums of money since 2013, has gone bankrupt, which has had a negative impact on my financial situation and consequently also caused a bankruptcy. I could have tried to avoid the subject, but I chose to talk about it openly because I believe there are lessons to be learned."
Begin also added: "I find this experience very trying, disappointing and especially hurtful for me and my loved ones, but as always, I will continue to push forward in order to carry out great projects despite this ordeal."
Begin spent the 2009-10 season with the Bruins, posting five goals, 14 points, 53 penalty minutes, and 182 hits in a bottom-six role.
In 524 career games over 13 NHL seasons split between the Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, and Bruins, Begin had 56 goals, 52 assists, and 561 penalty minutes. His final season in the NHL was the 2012-13 campaign, where he returned to the Flames.
