This former Boston Bruins forward should soon generate more interest.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

Former Boston Bruins forward James van Riemsdyk is still a free agent as we inch closer to August. While the Middletown, New Jersey native remains without a new home, his market should heat up soon.

When looking at the free agents still available for the taking, van Riemsdyk is the top forward left. In addition, with Daniel Sprong recently finding his new home with the Vancouver Canucks, clubs who were interested in him could certainly move their attention to van Riemsdyk.

van Riemsdyk, 35, is also coming off a solid season with the Bruins. While he struggled to produce during the final stretch of the regular season, he still ended the campaign with 11 goals, 38 points, and a plus-7 rating in 71 games. He was also pretty solid during the postseason, recording five points in 11 games.

With numbers like these, van Riemsdyk can still be an effective top-nine forward, and it should lead to him finding a new home before the start of the season. On a cheap one-year deal, he could be an excellent addition to an NHL team needing more depth production - just like he was in Boston.

Some clubs who could be good fits for JVR include the Detroit Red Wings, Vegas Golden Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, and Utah HC.
