The Boston Bruins have made some bad trades over the years, and dealing a then-21-year-old Tyler Seguin to the Dallas Stars in 2013 was undoubtedly one of the worst. None of the pieces they received for the 2010 second-overall pick became long-term parts of the Bruins' roster, while Seguin has put together an excellent 12-year tenure in Dallas. He is also showing no signs of slowing down at 33 years old, either.
Seguin and the Stars are currently in the Western Conference Final against the Edmonton Oilers, and the former Bruins forward helped them kick off that series in a big way. Seguin had a monster Game 1 for the Stars against Edmonton, recording two goals and an assist on the night.
Seguin's first goal of the game was during the first period and tied the game at 1-1. The former Bruin stole the puck from Oilers star Leon Draisaitl in the Stars' end and then used his speed to get a breakaway. From there, he beat Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner with a perfect snap shot.
Seguin's second goal at the 16:02 mark of the third period also proved to be massive, as it gave the Stars a 5-3 lead and some much-needed insurance. The former Bruin tipped home a Sam Steel backhand in front past Skinner.
With this excellent performance, Seguin now has four goals and eight points in 14 playoff games this year. Overall, he is still making an impact with the Stars after all of these years, and Dallas is benefiting from it big time.
