The Boston Bruins have announced that they have signed goaltender Simon Zajicek to a one-year, entry-level contract. The team also shared that he will carry a $872,500 cap hit at the NHL level.
Zajicek, 23, spent each of the last six seasons with Litvinov HC of the Czech Extraliga, but the 2024-25 campaign was easily his best with the squad. In 29 regular-season games, he posted a 15-13-0 record, a 2.12 goals-against average, a league-best .930 save percentage, and five shutouts. He also posted a .927 save percentage in three post-season appearances this year.
Zajicek will now provide the Bruins with another fascinating goalie prospect in their system to work with. Given how well he performed this season with Litvinov HC, it makes sense that the Bruins are taking a shot on the 6-foot-2 netminder.
Zajicek will now be another option for the Providence Bruins to work with next season. This is not a bad thing in the slightest, especially when noting that Providence goalies Michael DiPietro and Brandon Bussi are both pending unrestricted free agents and could leave this summer.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how Zajicek's first season in North America goes in 2025-26 from here.
