After a brief stay in Finland, a former Bruins forward is switching leagues.

After an unsuccessful PTO with the St. Louis Blues, former Boston Bruins forward Nick Ritchie signed a contract with Karpat of the Finnish Liiga earlier this season. However, he is now heading to a new club, as he has joined the Iserlohn Roosters of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga in Germany. 

Ritchie, 28, played in just 10 games for Karpat, where he had one goal, five points, and a whopping 70 penalty minutes.

Ritchie's last moment with Karpat will certainly be remembered, but not in a good way. The power forward was handed an eight-game suspension for "violent conduct" after repeatedly punching a defenseless Markus Nurmi in the head. 

Now, Ritchie will be looking to make an impact with the Roosters from here. If he does well, perhaps it could lead to some consideration from NHL clubs again this offseason, but time will tell what happens on that front. 

Ritchie is well-known amongst Bruins fans, as he played 63 games with the team, posting 16 goals and 28 points. After the 2021-22 season, the Bruins elected not to send him a qualifying offer, and he spent the following two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Arizona Coyotes, and Calgary Flames before heading overseas.
