Brad Marchand's OT winner was big for more reasons than one.
The Boston Bruins got back in the win column last night against the Ottawa Senators. Bruins captain Brad Marchand played the hero of the night, as he scored the overtime winner with a perfectly placed snapshot.
Scoring an OT winner is always a great feeling, but Marchand's latest holds value for bigger reasons than just getting the club two points. With this OT winner, Marchand scored the 396th goal of his career, passing Hall-of-Famer Ray Bourque to become the fifth-highest goal scorer in Bruins history.
However, that was not the only big milestone from this goal. The gritty winger also tied Jaromir Jagr for the third-most OT goals in NHL history. That is certainly an impressive accomplishment, as Jagr is one of the best players to ever play in the NHL.
A third-round pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Marchand has been one of the greatest draft steals in franchise history. In 995 games with the club, he has 396 goals, 513 assists, and 909 points. He is not slowing down, either, as he has 24 goals and 47 points in 49 games this season.
