A former Edmonton Oilers forward is resuming his professional career.
Before the start of the 2023-24 season, former Edmonton Oilers forward Zack Kassian announced his retirement from professional hockey. This came after an unsuccessful PTO stint with the Anaheim Ducks.
However, after a few months away from the game, Kassian is resuming his career. This is because he has signed a contract with HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga.
Kassian, 33, is, of course, remembered most for his seven-year stint with the Oilers. It was where he cemented himself as an impactful bottom-six forward at the NHL level due to his toughness and offensive contributions. In 412 games with the Oilers, he had 55 goals and 135 points.
After the 2021-22 season, Kassian's time as an Oiler came to a close, as he was dealt to the Arizona Coyotes. In his final NHL season as a Coyote in 2022-23, he had two goals and a minus-18 rating in 51 games.

Nevertheless, seeing Kassian return to professional hockey after a brief hiatus is cool. He will now look to make a big impact with HC Sparta Praha from here.
