The 2024-25 season has been quite a disappointment for the Boston Bruins. After a busy offseason, the expectation was that the Bruins would be a clear playoff team. However, with 13 games remaining in the season, the Bruins are instead three points behind the New York Rangers for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

While the Bruins have had a poor season, forward Morgan Geekie has been one of their few bright spots. At the time of this writing, the 26-year-old forward has a career-high 23 goals to go along with 37 points and a plus-3 rating in 64 games. He also only needs three more points to set another new career-high before the season ends.

Yet, what is more promising about Geekie is that he is continuing to produce as this season carries on. While the Bruins lost in overtime to the Buffalo Sabres in their last game on March 17, the 2017 third-round pick did his part in the matchup, scoring a goal and recording an assist. His goal was also a beauty, too, as he beat Sabres goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen with a sweet move on the breakaway.

After a slow start to the season, Geekie has been one of the Bruins' top players down the stretch. When looking at how well the pending restricted free agent has been playing, he certainly is making a strong case for himself to earn an extension to stay in Boston. It will be interesting to see if the Bruins sign him to one before the campaign is over from here.
