In a recent episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman named multiple coaches who are on the Boston Bruins' radar for their vacant head coaching job.
"Boston, I've heard they have interviewed about 15 guys," Friedman said. "I asked someone who they think Boston's interviewed, and the response was 'who haven't they interviewed?' As I've mentioned, [Marco] Sturm. I assume [Jay] Leach. I think [Jeff] Halpern and [Jeff] Blashill. I think they're also in on Mitch Love. Joe Sacco. But I think there's more and more."
It makes a lot of sense that the Bruins are exploring several different options for their head coaching gig. However, based on Friedman's comments, Sacco is still in the mix even with this being the case.
Sturm has been connected to the Bruins often over the last few weeks. The former Bruins forward is currently the head coach of the Ontario Reign and was previously an assistant coach of the Los Angeles Kings.
Leach is currently an assistant coach for the Bruins, so it is understandable that they are considering him as a potential option for their head coaching gig.
Halpern and Blashill are both currently assistant coaches of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Halpern has been an assistant for the Bolts since 2018, while Blashill was previously head coach of the Detroit Red Wings from 2015-16 to 2021-22.
As for Love, he has been an assistant coach for the Washington Capitals since the 2023-24 season. He also won the Louis A. R. Pieri Memorial Award in 2021-22 and 2022-23 as the AHL's top head coach with the Stockton Heat and then the Calgary Wranglers.
