However, in the most recent episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman discussed a potential barrier when it comes to Tocchet and the Bruins.
"You know, Boston, the one thing about Boston is Tocchet sees himself as worth a certain market," Friedman said. "We know that from his balance with Vancouver. Boston historically hasn't gone there, like I think Vancouver's offer was in the fours. Boston historically hasn't done that, so I don't know. I mean, it could work out. I just don't know."
This is certainly an interesting point from Friedman. Tocchet rightfully is looking for a nice payday, and given the interest in his services, he should get it. But will it be from the Bruins?
While the Bruins are not known for spending big money on their head coaches, Tocchet might be the kind of top bench boss that the Original Six Club should consider changing that with. However, time will tell what happens on that front.
In nine seasons as an NHL head coach split between the Tampa Bay Lightning, Arizona Coyotes, and Vancouver Canucks, Tocchet has a 286-265-87 record. He also won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's top head coach with the Canucks in 2023-24.
