New Bruins coach Joe Sacco spoke with reporters about Jim Montgomery being fired.
New Boston Bruins interim head coach Joe Sacco met with reporters on Wednesday (Nov. 20) for the first time since landing the gig.
While speaking to them, Sacco addressed Jim Montgomery's firing and gave some kind words about the former Bruins bench boss.
Here is what Sacco had to say about Montgomery:
"I want to start out by saying it's been a tough 24 hours for myself and for the staff. We obviously lost a real good coach in Jim and even a better person. I established a strong bond with Jimmy over the last two and a half years. He's made me a better coach during that time, and I just wish him all the best. He will land on his feet. He's too good of a coach, and I want to wish his family the best as well."
This was a nice way for Sacco to show his respect to Montgomery. Clearly, Sacco got along well with Montgomery during the latter's time as head coach. Thus, seeing Montgomery be let go must have been tough for Sacco, even with him landing his new promotion.
It will now be fascinating to see how well Sacco performs in the role from here. He certainly has a tough task ahead of him with trying to get the Bruins back on track.
