Should the Bruins look to sign Darren Raddysh if he hits the free-agent market this summer?
One of the Boston Bruins' biggest needs is a top-four right-shot defenseman. Players like Mason Lohrei, Andrew Peeke, and Henri Jokiharju have not been true answers for the Bruins' second pairing, so it would not be surprising if the Original Six club looks to add an impactful defenseman during the summer.
Due to this, one pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) defenseman who could be an interesting fit for the Bruins is Tampa Bay Lightning blueliner Darren Raddysh.
Raddysh is one of the top defensemen who can hit the free-agent market this off-season. The 30-year-old defender just had a monster season with the Lightning, as he set new career highs with 22 goals, 48 assists, 70 points, and a plus-21 rating in 73 games. With numbers like these, he would be a big pickup for a Bruins club that needs more offense from the point.
When looking at the Bruins' current defensive group, Raddysh could work well on their second pairing with Hampus Lindholm. He would also be a clear fit for the Bruins' top power-play unit. His 10 goals and 26 points on the power play this season effectively demonstrate that.
Even if Raddysh falls back down to Earth a bit next season offensively, he would still be a solid pickup for the Bruins' top four. Therefore, if the 6-foot-1 defenseman does not end up re-signing with the Bolts, he should be among the players on Boston's radar.
