The Boston Bruins are having themselves a great season so far in 2023-24. Although some recent losses (like the one last night against the Seattle Kraken) leave a bitter taste in the mouth - things are looking good this season.

That makes the Bruins announcement regarding Milan Lucic earlier today unsurprising. Earlier today the domestic assault and battery case against Lucic was dropped. Lucic has been on a leave from the NHL since November 18th, 2023.

In light of this new development, there was a statement released by the Bruins team.

The statement (as told by Bruins beat writer Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald) says that, "Milan Lucic will remain on indefinite leave from the organization for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. The Boston Bruins organization supports Milan and his family as he continues his personal rehabilitation."

It sounds like the focus for Lucic and his family will be to regain some kind of normalcy to their lives'. Lucic admitted himself into the NHLPA players assistance program shortly after taking his leave, so hopefully that program is able to give him the help that he needs.

As for his future with the organization, all signs seem to point with him being done as a Bruin. In the summer he signed a one-year contract. The only way he would return in a Bruins uniform is if he re-signs in the summer. Given where he is at in his career he may decide to hang up the skates.

He has achieved much in his career, so prioritizing his mental health is probably the best action for him to take.
