The Buffalo Sabres are currently at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. The Atlantic Division club has had another challenging year, and there is certainly a chance they will trade a few players before the March 7 NHL trade deadline.
Jordan Greenway is one Sabres player who should be watched between now and March 7. While Sabres GM Kevyn Adams has expressed his hope is to extend Greenway, he may have no choice but to trade him if a new contract does not come to fruition by the deadline. He's too valuable of a player to potentially lose for nothing in free agency.
Due to this, let's look at the three potential landing spots for Greenway if the Sabres officially make him available.
The Canucks have been connected to Greenway in the past, so it would not be all too surprising if they expressed interest in him at the deadline. When looking at their current group, it is fair to argue that they could use another hard-nosed winger with size in their bottom six, and Greenway would give them that.
When looking at a specific spot in Vancouver's lineup where Greenway could fit, their third line with Pius Suter and Brock Boeser makes sense. If not there, he would give them an upgrade on their fourth line.
The Lightning stand out as another prime potential landing spot for Greenway. While they have several impactful forwards in their top six, they could use some help on their third line. Greenway could be an answer for them on that front.
Tampa Bay has not received much offense from their bottom six this season, and Greenway would have the potential to give them a bit more of that if he stays healthy..
The Avalanche could also make sense as a trade destination for Greenway. They would be wise to strengthen their bottom six at the deadline, and bringing in a player like Greenway would do just that.
If acquired, Greenway could fit on the Avalanche's third or fourth line. He would also give them another option for their penalty kill because of his ability to shut down opponents.
