After adding Ryan McLeod from the Oilers, the Sabres can't be done yet.

OTP - Is There A Jeff Skinner Decision Looming?

The Buffalo Sabres made a shocking move on Friday, trading top prospect Matt Savoie to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Ryan McLeod and Ty Tullio. Sure, they acquired their much-needed 3C, but parting ways with Savoie in the trade has raised eyebrows.

Nevertheless, the Sabres should not be done making trades just yet. After failing to secure a guaranteed top-six winger in free agency, they should browse the trade market for one before the 2024-25 season starts. This is the year where they are supposed to break their playoff drought finally, so now is the time to be aggressive.

The trade market still has some big names, as players like Nikolaj Ehlers (Winnipeg Jets), Martin Necas (Carolina Hurricanes), Trevor Zegras (Anaheim Ducks), Frank Vatrano (Ducks), Patrik Laine (Columbus Blue Jackets), and Joel Farabee (Philadelphia Flyers) remain with their current clubs. Ehlers and Necas, in particular, are two names who have been connected to the Sabres.

Ultimately, the Sabres should be looking to make at least one more notable move before the summer. After buying out Jeff Skinner, they certainly need another scoring top-six winger, so let's see if GM Kevyn Adams can scoop one up from here.
