According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, Buffalo Sabres free agent Eric Robinson will sign a one-year, $1 million contract with the Carolina Hurricanes once free agency begins.
Robinson, 29, was acquired by the Sabres back in December for a 2025 seventh-round pick. In 47 games this past season split between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Sabres, Robinson had three goals, 10 points, 94 hits, and a minus-3 rating.
Robinson has the potential to be a decent addition to the Hurricanes' lineup. He should compete for a spot in their bottom six, as he is a 6-foot-2 forward who plays a gritty game. In addition, he has the potential to make a more significant offensive impact when playing at his best. Keep in mind, he has two seasons with at least 24 points on his resume.
The expectation was that the Sabres wouldn't bring back Robinson; now we have gotten confirmation that this is the case. While the fit wasn't necessarily there in Buffalo, he now has the chance of a fresh start with the Canes. Let's see how he performs with them from here.
