Shortly after being bought out by the Buffalo Sabres this off-season, Jeff Skinner signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers. This move made sense, given that the Oilers needed a boost on the wing.

However, Skinner's start in Edmonton has not been the best. He has just three goals and three assists in his first 20 games. He has also gone ice-cold lately, going eight straight games without a point. He also has a minus-7 rating over that span.

While things have not gone to plan for Skinner with the Oilers yet, he undoubtedly has the potential to heat back up. Just last season, the 2010 seventh-overall pick had 24 goals and 46 points in 74 contests with the Sabres. During the season before, he was outstanding, posting 35 goals and 82 points in 79 games.

Sometimes, it takes a player some time to adjust to a new team. Perhaps this is the case with Skinner in Edmonton. We will need to wait and see if he can bounce back with from here.
