The Sabres should keep an eye on this Islanders forward.
The Buffalo Sabres will be hunting for help down the middle this offseason. They must improve in this area if they hope to finally break their 13-year playoff drought in 2024-25.
While the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs are still going on, plenty of notable centers are already picking up buzz in the rumor mill. One of them who should be grabbing the attention of the Sabres is New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson.
If acquired, Nelson, 32, would be a massive addition to the Sabres' forward group. The veteran forward has only improved as his career has continued, and he has emerged as a true star. After posting 36 goals and 75 points in 2022-23, he followed that up with 34 goals and 69 points in 82 games this season. The Sabres could use that kind of production in their top nine.
Besides being able to play down the middle, Nelson offers great versatility by being able to play on the wing. Because of this, he could fit into the Sabres' top six. He would also, of course, be a massive addition to their power play.
Nelson has been creating some buzz as a trade candidate as he enters the final season of his contract. He does, however, have some say in where he would end up in a potential move, as he has a 16-team no-trade list.
