The Sabres could have a very busy trade deadline.
With the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline almost here, the Buffalo Sabres are a team to watch. Due to their placement in the standings, we could see some changes made to their group by March 8.
According to The Fourth Period, the Sabres "seem open to exploring moves" for pending UFAs Erik Johnson, Kyle Okposo, Victor Olofsson, Zemgus Girgensons, Eric Robinson, and Eric Comrie.
Players like Johnson, Okposo, Olofsson, and Girgensons have created trade chatter in recent weeks, but Robinson and Comrie have been much more under the radar. However, with the Sabres' playoff hopes essentially crushed, they might as well commit to being sellers when it comes to their pending UFAs.
The Fourth Period also relayed that the Associated Press reported that Okposo and Girgensons talked with Sabres GM Kevyn Adams about their thoughts about the prospect of being dealt. They did not, however, want to share them publicly and elected to keep them private.
None of these players are expected to bring in significant returns if moved, but the Sabres could get some draft picks and/or prospects for them. We must keep an eye on the Sabres from here, as this could be a pretty big week of dealing for them.
