The Winnipeg Jets stand out as a solid potential trade partner for the Buffalo Sabres.

OTP - Does Peyton Krebs Have A Future In Buffalo?

The Buffalo Sabres have made plenty of moves, but they should not be done just yet. Looking at their roster, it is clear that they could use a bit more help on offense before the start of the campaign.

Due to this, let’s look at two players who the Sabres should consider targeting from the Winnipeg Jets.

Nikolaj Ehlers

Nikolaj Ehlers is one of the top trade candidates for this offseason, but he has yet to be moved. The Sabres have been viewed as a solid potential landing spot for him, given their apparent need for a top-six winger. After not landing a top-six winger in free agency, GM Kevyn Adams should consider making a push for Ehlers.

If the Sabres landed Ehlers, he would instantly fit their top six. He could work quite well playing on the club's first line with Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch, but he would also be an option for their second line if they wanted to spread out their talent.

With the Sabres looking to be better immediately, Ehlers would be a home run of an addition. In 82 games this past season with the Jets, he posted 25 goals, 61 points, and a plus-27 rating.

Rutger McGroarty

The Sabres were connected to the Jets' top prospect, Rutger McGroarty, earlier this offseason, but a move did not come to fruition. It would not be too surprising if there is still some interest there, as the 20-year-old has the tools to become a top-six winger.

McGroarty wants to begin his NHL career elsewhere, and there certainly is a chance that the Jets will move him before the start of the season. When noting that he is an offensively skilled forward who plays hard and has a high hockey IQ, he would be a massive prospect for the Sabres to add to their system.

In 36 games this past season with the University of Michigan, McGroarty had 16 goals and 52 points.
