The Buffalo Sabres are set to face off against the New York Islanders on Friday night (Nov. 1). They will aim to bounce back after falling to the Florida Panthers in their last matchup.
The Islanders have had a rough start to the season, as they have a 3-5-2 record and are at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division. If these struggles continue, they could become sellers later this season, and their top trade chip would be Brock Nelson. The 33-year-old forward has already generated buzz in the rumor mill and would be a perfect player for the Sabres to target.
It is no secret that the Sabres' top six could use a real boost. Nelson would give them that, as the 2010 first-round is a consistent 30-goal threat and can play both down the middle and on the wing.
Brock NelsonNelson has scored at least 34 goals over his three previous seasons and had 69 points in 82 games this past season. The Sabres could certainly use another forward who can produce like this in their lineup, so they should make a push for Nelson this season. With the Sabres looking to add, he would be a significant splash.
