The Buffalo Sabres made a significant move yesterday (March 6), trading Casey Mittelstadt to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Bowen Byram. Byram, 22, should be a big part of their blue line for many years.
Yet, while the Sabres made one big splash, they should continue working the phones until the deadline. One specific player they should be keeping an eye on is St. Louis Blues forward Jordan Kyrou.

Kyrou, 25, has become quite the subject of trade chatter in recent weeks as the Blues look to retool their roster. When noting that the Sabres created a hole in their current forward group by trading Mittelstadt, Kyrou would be a marvelous replacement for him.
Kyrou would be far more than a rental if acquired by the Sabres, as he is under contract until the end of the 2030-31 season. However, when noting that he is just entering his prime, this would not be a bad thing for Buffalo.
Kyrou has appeared in 62 games this season, posting 20 goals to go along with 48 points. He also had 75 points in 74 games in 2021-22 and 73 points in 79 games last season. Needless to say, he is a high-impact top-six forward who could be a major addition to the Sabres.
