Could the Bruins trade their former first-round pick this week?
The Boston Bruins are understandably browsing the trade market, with the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline being less than a week away. The expectation is that they will look to add to their group. However, with the club having few draft picks, a small prospect pool, and very little cap space, there may be a chance that we see at least one of their roster players get dealt.
Because of this, in The Fourth Period's updated Trade Watch List, Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk makes an appearance in their bubble list.

Here is what TFP had to say about the prospect of DeBrusk being moved: "The Bruins have limited salary cap space and any major add before the deadline will have to result in a body leaving the roster. DeBrusk can become a UFA this summer and Boston has been quietly shopping him, though aren’t in a rush to move him. He could be a casualty of the cap if they make another move."
DeBrusk, 27, would be a notable player to move, as he has been a part of the Bruins' top six for quite some time. However, when noting that he has an expiring contract and is having a tough season, it is fair to wonder if Boston could be willing to part ways with him if it means bringing in a notable player like Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin.

DeBrusk also recently shared that extension talks between him and the Bruins have not shown any signs of progression. That could naturally impact his availability during this week.
DeBrusk has appeared in 61 games this season, where he has 14 goals, 29 points, and a plus-10 rating. While his offense is down this campaign, it would still be risky to move him. When he's on his game, he's a very impactful player, and trading him could create another hole in their lineup.
