The Bruins are once again being linked to their former top trade target.
During the 2023 NHL Offseason, the Boston Bruins were heavily linked to Elias Lindholm. This remained the case throughout this campaign until his eventual move to the Vancouver Canucks last month. That naturally seemed to close the door on a potential Lindholm addition. Yet, now with the deadline less than a week away, the Bruins are shockingly being linked to him again.
According to NHL insider Chris Johnston, the Canucks have had discussions about possibly moving Lindholm to the Bruins in order to successfully acquire Pittsburgh Penguins star winger Jake Guentzel.
This is a major rumor that must be watched extremely closely. It certainly has come out of left field, as the Canucks parted ways with a ton to acquire Lindholm. However, if this report holds true, they prefer Guentzel and are willing to move their most recent big acquisition if it helps them land the Penguins star.
The Bruins would undoubtedly benefit by adding Lindholm. It is not a secret that they need another top-six center, and he would give them that if acquired. With that, he is well-known for his excellent two-way game, and the Bruins could use a player like him after losing Patrice Bergeron this past offseason to retirement.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if Boston can successfully land Lindholm, but Johnston has indeed given Bruins nation something to pay attention to.
