The Sabres are being viewed as one of the potential frontrunners for Patrick Kane.

Last season, the Buffalo Sabres were linked to Patrick Kane before he signed with the Detroit Red Wings. Given that the team still needs another top-six scorer, there's an expectation that they will look at Kane again if he hits the market on July 1.
Due to this, BetMichigan has the Sabres as one of the potential frontrunners for landing Kane this summer. They have them tied for fifth with the New York Rangers (+1450) as the most likely team to sign Kane if he does not return to Detroit (+115).

It is not a secret that the Sabres could use a veteran like Kane in their top six. Their offense must improve if they hope to break their 13-year playoff drought in 2024-25. Bringing in a high-impact winger like Kane would certainly give their forward core a nice jolt.
If the Sabres signed Kane, he could work beautifully on the top line with JJ Peterka and Tage Thompson. However, if they wanted to spread out their talent a bit, he also would be an option for their second line with Dylan Cozens and Zach Benson. In either scenario, the Sabres' top six would get stronger.
Kane, 35, would also provide the Sabres with a proven winner, as he has three Stanley Cups on his resume. That is certainly a nice bonus.
