The Buffalo Sabres will look to add to their forward group this offseason. Two specific needs they have is a top-six winger and a top-nine center. As a result, this could be a pretty busy summer in Buffalo.

The Sabres are in a prime position to make a big splash on the trade market. They not only have this year's 11th overall pick, but they also have a surplus of notable prospects that they could flip to get immediate help. Because of this, they could land a star through trading, and one specific player who they should have on their radar is Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras.

Zegras was in the rumor mill for much of this season, and it already translating over to the offseason. When noting that he is a young top-six forward who still might not have hit his ceiling, he will be a hot commodity this summer. The Sabres should consider becoming one of the clubs in the mix.

Zegras is an incredibly versatile player, as he can play both down the middle and on the wing. When looking at the Sabres' lineup, he would likely be a strong fit on the wing on a line with Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch. However, the Sabres having a middle of Thompson, Zegras, and Dylan Cozens would also be quite lethal.

Zegras, 23, had dealt with injury trouble this season. In 31 games, he had six goals and 15 points. While it was a down year for the New York native, he is a clear bounce-back candidate. Keep in mind, he had 61 goints and 65 points in the seasons before.

Overall, if the Sabres landed Zegras, he would not only help them immediately but could also become a long-term part of their core. Thus, this is an avenue worth exploring.
