This Sabres star is red-hot at the perfect time.
The Buffalo Sabres secured a massive win against the Philadelphia Flyers last night. With it, they have kept their playoff hopes alive, as they trail the Flyers by four points for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. A lot will need to go right for Buffalo to claim the last spot, however, as the Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings, and Pittsburgh Penguins are all ahead of them.
While the odds are stacked against the Sabres, it is good to see them putting together a real fight during this final stretch of the year. One reason for the Sabres still being in it has been the marvelous play of star forward Tage Thompson.
Tage ThompsonWhile Thompson has had a down season this year, his play has been excellent lately. The 6-foot-6 center has six goals and nine points in his last four games and 10 goals and 18 points in his last 13 games.
Seeing Thompson back in last season's form has been a real treat, and the hope is that he will continue to dominate from here. Fans know how great of a player he is when he's on his game, and he surely is at this juncture.
