Leading up to the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Zach Benson was viewed as a potential top-10 pick. However, luckily for the Buffalo Sabres, he was still available once it was their turn to draft, and they selected him 13th overall.

So far, it is safe to say that the Sabres' pick of Benson has already been the right call. The 18-year-old has already emerged as an impactful NHL player, posting nine goals and 23 points in his 57 games. What is more encouraging is that his play has been noticeably improving recently.

Benson has been on a real hot streak, posting three points on Feb. 12 against the Detroit Red Wings and two goals against the New York Islanders on March 14. While he was kept off the scoresheet in the Sabres' most recent loss to Detroit, seeing a rookie record three goals and five points over two games is awe-inspiring.

When looking at how confidently Benson has been playing, it is hard to believe that he can't keep this kind of play up moving forward. He is starting to adjust to the NHL level, and the chance of him becoming a true star in the near future is there. Let's see how well he maintains this hot streak from here.
