With the trade deadline rapidly approaching, several Buffalo Sabres players have been discussed as trade candidates. Dylan Cozens, Bowen Byram, and Alex Tuch are among the most notable names who are creating chatter, but now a new Sabres star has entered the rumor mill.

According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, Sabres forward JJ Peterka is generating trade interest with the deadline being a week away. Seravalli also reported that teams who have expressed interest in Peterka have been "met with resistance" by the Sabres.

"Sources say any team calling Buffalo has been met with resistance on Peterka, but the volume of calls has increased, and the amount of chatter around the league is growing."

While Peterka is reportedly generating trade interest, the Sabres trading him would come with extreme risk. The 23-year-old forward has cemented himself as an important forward in the Sabres' lineup and still has time to continue to improve. With the Sabres looking to take that next step, trading an impactful youngster like Peterka could backfire, even if it lands them a nice return.

Peterka has appeared in 55 games this season with the Sabres, where he has 17 goals and 44 points. This is after he set new career highs with 28 goals and 50 points in 82 games with the Sabres this past season.

It will be intriguing to see if the Sabres end up dealing Peterka at the deadline from here.
