The Calgary Flames are ready to open the 2026-27 regular season on home ice.
Calgary will welcome the Seattle Kraken to the Saddledome on Thursday night for the first game of the new season, and there is an added layer of significance to the matchup.
It will be the Flames’ final home opener at the Saddledome.

The Flames and Kraken met twice during the preseason, with Seattle coming away with victories in both games. Calgary will get its first opportunity to even the score when the games start to count.

After showing flashes of what he can become during his first extended opportunities in the NHL, Wolf will take the crease with increased expectations heading into the new campaign.
Devin Cooley will serve as the backup.

There are plenty of storylines to watch as the Flames begin the season, but Thursday night is ultimately about getting the 2026-27 campaign started.
For Calgary, that means doing it in front of a home crowd at the Saddledome one final time to open a season.
