Carolina Hurricanes rookie defenseman Alexander Nikishin has been invited to participate in the NHLPA Rookie Showcase next month in Virginia.

The event, which takes place annually in Arlington, Virginia, is hosted by Upper Deck and is essentially an opportunity for the company to obtain photo and video of the players in their respective uniforms to then be used for their first official rookie hockey cards, as well as additional promotional materials throughout the season and beyond.

The Sept. 3 event will be attended by 31 rookies from most of the other NHL teams.
