Former Carolina Hurricanes goalie Antti Raanta has found a new home, signing a one-year contract with Lukko of the Finnish Liiga.
Raanta, 36, spent the 2024-25 season with Geneve Servette of the Swiss National League. In 24 games with the Swiss club, he posted an 11-10-0 record, a 2.74 goals-against average, and a .902 save percentage. Overall, it was a solid year for the former Hurricanes goalie overseas.
Before this campaign, Raanta spent each of the previous three seasons with the Hurricanes. In 79 games with the Metropolitan Division club over that span, he had a 46-15-9 record, a .901 save percentage, and a 2.53 goals-against average. He also won the William M. Jennings Trophy with the Canes during the 2021-22 season alongside Frederik Andersen.
Raanta's final season with the Hurricanes in 2023-24 was notably rough, though. In 24 games with Carolina that campaign, he had a 12-7-2 record but also a .872 save percentage. This was Raanta's last season in the NHL.
In 277 career NHL games over 11 seasons split between the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Arizona Coyotes, and Hurricanes, Raanta had a 139-80-29 record, a 2.48 goals-against average, and a .915 save percentage.
