Head coach Rod Brind'Amour confirmed that goaltender Frederik Andersen will return to the starter's crease for the first time in nine days tonight as the Carolina Hurricanes take on the Seattle Kraken.

Andersen had been out of the lineup since taking a puck to the helmet in the first period against the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 17.

"He should be going," Brind'Amour said. "He's going to be starting, so we'll see."

In his absence, Antti Raanta and Pyotr Kochetkov split the load but came away with just a 1-3-0 record and 21 goals against.

Andersen's return should hopefully bring a much needed boost to Carolina's crease.

While one injured player is returning, another will remain out as it will be yet another game missed by forward Andrei Svechnikov.

Svechnikov will miss his eighth game this season as he continues to work his way back from knee surgery that he had in March to repair a torn ACL.

Svechnikov recently started taking part in full contact practices starting Monday, Oct. 23 and while Brind'Amour has hinted that he's right around the corner, that moment will not be tonight.

"When he's in, I'll let you know," Brind'Amour said pre-game. "I know it's coming. He's real close. When he's ready to go, he'll let us know and he'll be right in there."

The Hurricanes have been preparing for Svechnikov's return with him even taking part in PP1 drills at Wednesday's practice, but the Canes are taking no chances with Svechnikov.

So whether his return comes tomorrow or even still a little down the line, it'll be once he is truly ready.
