
Columbus Blue Jackets' defensemen Brendan Smith has undergone success knee surgery to repair the injury he sustained On Dec. 29th against the Ottawa Senators.
The Blue Jackets' general manager Don Waddell announced that it went as expected and his recovery time is in the three to four month range.
Smith, 36, has two assists and 11 penalty minutes in 15 games with the club this season. He signed a one-year contract early this season to join the club, after they lost Erik Gudbranson to an injury that has held him out of the lineup since.
Smith also played in 11 games with the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League before converting the contract into an NHL deal.
