The Columbus Blue Jackets were back in action last night against their Metro Division opponent the New York Rangers. 

The Blue Jackets came into this game as winners of their last two against the Seattle Kraken and Edmonton Oilers. And, we're looking to extend that winning streak to three games. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, as they lost 2-1 in a shootout, snapping their winning streak.

They are slowly pulling themselves out of the bottom of the Eastern Conference. If they can continue to play well enough to steal games, they will push themselves back up into the middle of the pack. Which is something that all Blue Jackets fans want to see.

• Praised the Rangers for their strong structure
• Feels extremely proud of his group

• Greaves made some big stops to keep them in the game
• Mentioned the mindset in the final few minutes is "don't get scored on"
• Mentioned that it is a difficult spot for the fourth line who didn't get a ton of playing time

Jet Greaves

• Respects Shesterkin a ton
• Really enjoys playing in tight lower scoring games
• Felt his team did a good job playing in a defensive game
• In games like that, you need to live in the moment
• As much as he is mad at not saving Miller's shootout attempt, mentioned you need to tip your cap to a great shot

Kirill Marchenko 

• It was tough to find scoring opportunities
• Felt it was a good experience for the team
• In games like this, he is just trying to find open space on the ice
• Have to play your way and use your speed
• Tried a new shootout move against fellow countrymen Shesterkin
• Mentioned that he and Shesterkin know each other very well, so had to try something new

Zach Werenski

• Praised the Rangers for their defensive structure
• Enjoyed the defensive style game
• He and the group knew that points are important in games like that
• Everyone bought in when they realized it wasn't going to be easy
• Mentioned it is human nature to play more defensively in the dying minutes of the game
• Felt his team started well but also thought the team took a step back around the 14 minute mark in the first
• Team quickly adjusted to the Rangers tempo and played better
• No team is really giving an inch, so it is good to learn how to play in games like this

New York Rangers:

Mike Sullivan: Head Coach

• Liked how his team defended
• Felt his team played a complete game, which is great to see especially with how good Columbus is
• Mentioned that the Blue Jackets are one of the best teams off the rush, so nice to see how his handled that
• Felt his team checked them well and played well in the transition
• Although they didn't score a ton of goals, his team did generate chances
• Games like this show that they can win in different ways
• Mentioned a sign of a good team is when you can play in a tight one goal game and not panic - his team is getting to that level
• Team responded well after the Blue Jackets scored
• Rangers did well in the critical moments in the game
• Shesterkin made some big saves that helped his team stay in it
