Last night, former Columbus Blue Jackets' forward Gavin Brindley scored his first NHL goal as a member of the Colorado Avalanche.
The old saying is go to the net and that's what he did. He went to the net with his stick down and Victor Olofsson skated down the left side and found him out front. Brindley was left alone in front of the Dallas Stars' goalie and made no mistake.
The goal came at the halfway point in the second period to give the Avalanche their second of the game. During the second intermission, he was interviews and had this to say:
"Yeah pretty exciting, a lot of emotions"
Brindley, 21, was acquired by the Avalanche in part of the Charlie Coyle and Miles Wood trade just before the 2025 NHL Draft.
Brindley was one of the Blue Jackets' top prospect before being traded to Colorado. Now, he has an opportunity to play on a nightly basis with his new club. He made the opening night roster because of his motor, which was on full display last night.
Thankfully, he had the chance to play his first game with the Blue Jackets who drafted him back in 2023-24. However, they needed to bring in more veteran depth to help push for a playoff spot. Regardless, it is very nice to see him getting a chance at the NHL level and making the most of it.
