    A win is a win.

No matter how it looked, wins count the same on the scoresheet.

The Dallas Stars defeated the Winnipeg Jets in Game 3 of their second-round series with a 5-2 final score. They now lead the series 2-1.

Mikko Rantanen, Roope Hintz, Thomas Harley, Mikael Granlund, and Sam Steel all contributed multi-point efforts in the victory.

But (once again) Rantanen was on another level compared to everyone else. He recorded a goal and two assists to secure his fifth three-point game in the 2025 playoffs.

His latest multi-point effort now puts him in some pretty elite company.

Mikko Rantanen Continues Doing Mikko Rantanen Things

Rantanen is now the first player in NHL history to record five three-point efforts in their first 10 games of the playoffs. Evgeni Malkin, Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Evander Kane are the only players to have recorded four three-point games in their first 10 contests of a postseason.

It doesn’t stop there. Rantanen has gotten a point on each of the Stars’ last five game-winning goals. He broke the previous record of four consecutive game-winning points set by Joe Nieuwendyk in 1999.

Finally, he became the first player in over 30 years to record 18 points in his team’s first 10 playoff games. In 1989, the last time this happened, Wayne Gretzky recorded 19 points with the Los Angeles Kings while Mario Lemieux recorded 18 points for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

As I said above, pretty elite company.

It’s clear as day (to anyone with a pulse) that Rantanen was the best acquisition made by the Stars this year. His performance is propelling him into an early Conn Smythe Contender.

As long as Rantanen keeps on doing Rantanen things.
