No matter how long it’s been since you’ve seen an old friend, you are always happy to see them.
And in his own unique way, Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen liked seeing his old friend, Gabriel Landeskog.
Game 3 between the Stars and the Colorado Avalanche was a special game. Landeskog made his magical return to hockey after a 1000+ day absence from playing. The last time he played an NHL game was in Game 6 of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final.

The rich often say, “money is no object.”
The two were teammates for a long time. Although they are suiting up against each other in the opening round of the playoffs, Rantanen can recognize the significance of his old teammate returning to game action.
Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar did Landeskog a solid and let him be part of the starting lineup. He squared up against Rantanen at the faceoff and now, we know what the two said to each other.
Rantanen was mic’d up for the game, and you can hear him say, “welcome back you big f---.”
Landeskog responded with, “yeah, here we go.”
It’s good to have a sense of humor about things. This comes across as banter that was common between these two.
Game 4 of the series is scheduled for 8:30 PM Central Time on Saturday night.
