Episode six of The Silky Mitten State: A Hockey Podcast About Michigan

The latest episode of THN Detroit's Podcast: The Silky Mitten State is live!

My co-host Connor Earegood and I discuss the way the Detroit Red Wings built momentum and identity in the form of two big wins over the Boston Bruins and Minnesota Wild, then proved they have room for growth with respect to consistency in a flat 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers last night.

From there, we move into some flowers for David Perron's unique effectiveness on the occasion of his 300th NHL goal, before talking about the limitations of the NHL's Department of Player Safety.

Finally, we wrap the show by discussing the news of the week: Patrick Kane's signing with the Red Wings.  The above video is an excerpt from our discussion of Kane's acquisition, focusing on the way his personal history makes it difficult to feel all that excited about the signing, regardless of his on-ice accomplishments or the potential limitations of his surgery.  We also get into his potential fit with Detroit as the conversation progresses.
