EDMONTON -- Playoff hockey never disappoints.
Fans of the Edmonton Oilers are some of the most enthusiastic in all of hockey - which makes the first game tonight an exciting event. Everything is heightened with playoff hockey. The cheers are louder, the boos are fiercer and the hits are heavier.
This first round features a lot of heated rivalries. The Oilers and Los Angeles Kings, Florida Panthers versus Tampa Bay Lightning, Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights just to name a few.
Pat Maroon. One series that has already seen sparks fly is the Toronto Maple Leafs first round series against the Boston Bruins. The Bruins team is known for it's physical play - and added to that reputation by acquiring former Oilers forward Pat Maroon to their roster from the Minnesota Wild by the trade deadline.
Pat Maroon. While Maroon has spent a decent chunk of the season injured - he looks like he's ready for playoff hockey.
Game one featured 103 hits combined between both hits. One of them featured Maroon introducing a Maple Leafs defender to his Bruins teammates.
Timothy Liljegren was levelled into the Bruins bench by Maroon - one of Maroon's six recorded hits in 11:28 of ice time.
Game two is tonight, and I would expect it to be another spirited affair between the two teams.
