    It begins tonight for the Edmonton Oilers. They have overcome a similar slump at the start of the year as they did last season. They didn’t let that slow them down, even if injuries did occur at the end of the year.

    On Monday night, April 21st, the Oilers play Game 1 of their best-of-seven series against the Los Angeles Kings. The most significant difference between these two teams is the addition of Darcy Keumper for the Kings and the swap of Warren Foegele and Viktor Arvidsson.

    Keumper has had a solid bounce-back season. In 50 games, he had a record of 31-11-7, with a 2.02 goals against average, a .922 save percentage, and five shutouts. Additionally, he finished the regular season sixth in Goals Saved Above Expected with 22.5

    Foegele continued his strong play from his career year in Edmonton last year, with an even better season this year. In 82 games, he scored 24 goals and collected 22 assists for 46 points, new career highs for each category. The former Oilers forward played 16:10 minutes per game, over two minutes more than the previous year.

    Arvidsson’s season has been less bright. The new Oilers forward sustained injuries that limited him to only 67 games this year. He scored 15 goals, collected 27 points while playing 15 minutes a night.

    The Oilers play Game 1 of their first-round series against the Kings on Monday, April 21st. The game will be broadcast at 8:00 PM Mountain Time, 10:00 PM Eastern Time.

    Game 1 can be seen on ESPN2, Sportsnet, TVA Sports, and FanDuel Sports Network West (FDSNW).
