Zach "not an All-Star" Hyman is a 50 goal scorer.

EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers have a good one on their hands.

While the Oilers came away from their back-to-back weekend with two losses instead of wins - they continue their road trip one 50-goal scorer richer.

Zach Hyman scored one goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs and one against the Ottawa Senators, to become a 50-goal scorer for the first time in his career. The most the 31-year-old forward has scored was 36 goals - an achievement he reached last season.

He's been a very consistent producer for the Oilers - never going more than three games without a point in the 2023-24 season.

Hyman was never supposed to be a 50-goal scorer. Drafted in the fifth round, 123rd overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the winger has battled through misconceptions and doubters to post back-to-back career seasons with the Oilers.

This year looks to be another one for his personal record book.

Players who were drafted in the fifth round (or later) and have scored 50 goals are; Brett Hull, Pavel Bure, Luc Robitaille, Peter Bondra and Alexander Mogilny (just to name a few). That's some fantastic company to keep.

With how many times Leon Draisaitl has scored 50 goals in a season, it can (seemingly) lessen the achievement. Instead, it should truly shed light on just how difficult it is to score at the highest level of hockey in the world.
