Meanwhile, former Oilers forward Zack Kassian has found his way back to the ice. Today he is playing in his second game for his new team - HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga.
Another former Oilers player who has a return to the NHL on the horizon - Jesse Puljujarvi. He has spent some time in the American Hockey League (AHL) and as of this afternoon he has officially signed a new contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Puljujarvi agreed to a two-year $800,000 per year contract this afternoon. The 25-year old winger scored nine points in 13 games in the AHL before earning this contract.
Last year was a struggle for Puljujarvi - a contract year where things didn't go right for him. Despite having good defensive metrics, he struggled offensively. He only had 16 points in 75 NHL games between the Oilers and the Carolina Hurricanes.
Puljujarvi is practicing the with the team today. The Oilers play the Penguins twice in the month of March. The first time at home on the 3rd and the second time in Pittsburgh (on the 10th).
