The Edmonton Oilers retained the services of many veterans who all contributed to their Stanley Cup playoff run. Connor Brown, Adam Henrique, Mattias Janmark and Troy Stecher decided to run-it-back with the team.
Additionally, Jackson added Viktor Arvidsson and Jeff Skinner to improve their forward depth.

Fast forward two trades, and the Oilers are reportedly close to naming a new General Manager. Or at least that's what Jackson said on a podcast last week.
A week to 10 days was the timeline he laid out. Now that we are at one week, anticipation is rising by the day.

Just last night it was reported that Stan Bowman was going to be named the new Oilers' GM. If this is the case, it would be an extremely contested decision. A fan petition broke out when this option first surfaced. The report also suggests that the Oilers will name their new GM on Thursday.
On Monday, Frank Seravalli hopped on Oilers Now with Bob Stauffer to discuss the GM vacancy in Edmonton. Stauffer asked Seravalli what teams the Oilers may have contacted to speak to potential candidates.
Seravalli cited the Seattle Kraken and assistant general manager Jason Botterill. He reported that he wasn't convinced that Botterill would leave the Kraken organization.
All of this comes days after a report on the weekend about a different candidate.
Billy Stefan reported that Mark Hunter was the expected hire. He also reported that, "Stan Bowman still working through his options, but don't be surprised if he comes on as senior advisor to the GM."
A lot is up in the air right now. Until the Oilers come out with an official announcement, it's all speculation and rumor.
