The Edmonton Oilers CEO and acting General Manager has furthered his mark on the team. He steered the team through the Entry Draft and past the opening of Free Agency. He has made trades that have shed cap space and altered the construction of the team's prospect pool.

It appears his major focus now is finding a General Manager. Jackson appeared on The Bob McCown Podcast yesterday. He spoke about multiple topics including his relationship with Connor McDavid and the search for a new Oilers GM.

The process of finding a new GM is well underway. Jackson said, "I'm working through that process right now. I've spoken with a number of candidates and (I'm) making my way through that."

Jackson revealed that he's going to be looking for someone who is different from Ken Holland, "it will be someone a little bit different from Kenny, reputationally and experience-wise there is no one like Ken."

As for what attributes he is looking for he laid out a few things clearly, "what I'm looking for is; someone who's worked in organizations that have had success that has had to deal with the interplay between superstars and younger players. They've done a great job in development, to me that's such a critical thing."

"A progressive attitude, a collaborative attitude, a very good communicator. Those are things that I'm looking for. It doesn't have to be someone who has a ton of experience as a GM."

As for when Jackson hopes to have a GM in place he has a basic timeframe in mind, "I don't want to put a time frame on it but probably (within) the next week to 10 days I would think."

Everything that Jackson has done this offseason has been met with positive reviews. It's safe to assume that his GM hire will be more of the same.
