The Edmonton Oilers Connor McDavid can really do it all.

The Edmonton Oilers Connor McDavid can really do it all.

EDMONTON - This just in, Connor McDavid is a great player.

While some may think that is an understatement, it's also true. The Edmonton Oilers captain is a generational talent who keeps breaking Oilers and NHL records.

His skill doesn't end with his puck skills, speed or off-the-charts hockey IQ - his determination and focus are key elements to his game. That was on full display in the Oilers most recent Battle of Alberta against the Calgary Flames.

Although they lost, McDavid was still doing McDavid things. Perhaps the most underrated was his assist on Zach Hyman's second goal.

McDavid strips Blake Coleman of the puck and while starting to carry it out of the zone - he is levelled by Coleman against the boards. Before Coleman landed his hit McDavid had already passed the puck to Leon Draisaitl. Draisaitl then bombs a pass to a streaking Hyman who buries a backhand on Dan Vladar.

Looking at the play from a different angle - it looks like McDavid passes it as he's being hit by Coleman.

When most players get hit, they aren't able to make a quick pass to a teammate. But that's part of what makes McDavid special.
